Actually picture below of trailer with new roof was from October of 1995. Note the autumn colors!!
Got my first look at Bill's new web page. Nicely done!

Early photo......1993 perhaps?

All hands on deck!

We made it home safe. Heavy rain through the pass. We have one more trip scheduled near the end of October. This will be a "button up" mission. Preparation for Winter. This time we noticed the trees on the property are significantly taller than when we 1st took possession. It has, after all, been over 10 years. Amazing how time flies. We have shelter with lights, TV, a nice gas stove to cook on in the trailer, a water collection system, outhouse, solar power, shower capabilities, Cell service, bird and squirrel feeders, and a nice deck to sit on. A bit of an accomplishment if you ask me.

Spent a day at property after eating breakfast at Whistlers in town. Food is not as good as Our Place in Omak. Everything is doing fine at retreat. Looks like fire season is over and Fall is here! It's a good place to kick back and listen to the silence!

Saturday, September 11, 2004

We arrived 2:30. Took nap. Blue Jays are on us to feed them not 10 minutes after we get here. We had pot roast for dinner. VERY TENDER! Very quiet here except for the neighbors generator.
Arrived at property at 2:30PM to sunny and breezy skies! Temp is in the low 70"s. All is well as usual. Took some time to rest and relax by taking naps!
Heading off on our 911 memorial trip today. Cooler weather prevails in Eastern Washington. Onward in remembrence of all those who died that day!

Well here we go again! We are heading over to Carter Country on 9/11. This time the weather should be much nicer. This trip should complete the new outhouse. All that's left is to move the toilet itself and to attach a new seat. I put my money on Bill to be the first to bless this new project. We might also empty and clean the water barrels.

Ron must be getting his weather predictions from the K Mart web site. All the ones I am looking at say 95 to 100 in Tonasket. Time to go to plan B. We are heading out tomorrow 8-15-2004 , to the Ocean. It has got to be cooler there. We will take time out to do a "pilgrimage" to Curt Cobains childhood house. We will blog the adventure when we get back.

We are watching the temps in the Okanogan as we prepare for our August trip. Right now it looks like a go for the trip, at least for a stay of 1 night. I predict upper 80's at cabin, which sits at an altitude of 2400 ft. We need to empty water barrels and clean before years end.

Sunday, July 18, 2004

As Bill mentioned, we decided to come home after only 3 hours in the intense, buggy heat of the Okanogan hill country. Out of many trips we have made, this was one of the hottest we have seen! We arrived home around 11:30PM and while fueling Bills truck, we noticed lots of baggy pant Hip Hop hoods hanging out at the 7 Elleven. Bellevue is going down hill quickly!
We decided to head home. It was just too dang hot at the property. At least we got to check on the place, Feed the birds and squirrels, and dropped off a full propane tank..........So it was not a waste.........Very dangerous drive home tho. Very dark. The insects were hitting the windshield as if we were going throughout a light rain fall. Very weird. Tonasket is scheduled to get to 95 degrees today. It is 76 as I speak in bellevue.........Quite a difference.

Saturday, July 17, 2004

Arrived 3 PM......Very hot.....98 degree's. Ron wants to go home , bugs are bugging him and the heat is too much. The city of Tonasket was having a festivus today. Several streets were blocked off. Took a side trip to Alta Lake on the drive up. Nice place. I am now using the new 12 volt inverter to run the laptop. It has a fan and draws a lot of power. I can see the battery draining.......We started at 14.5 and now we are at 13.03.......I am drinking Organic beer bought from the new Whole foods store in Bellevue. It is cloudy and hot. Lots of bugs. Bird nest is full of babies.

I and Lee summited Carter Mountain today. We used the little used Sparrow Nest route. Several Men have been lost for 2 hours on this side in prior years. Ron went into town to Co-Mingle with the town folk. This is the Summer Solstice today. 88 degrees right now as I blog this. scattered cumulis
We arrived at 1 am Sat morn. Not much of a Moon so the sky is incredible. Lee arrived at 2 PM. We put him to work immediatly on the new outhouse construction. High temp 81 degrees low was 55. No clouds. Bats, Nighthawks Hawks, Deer, Chipmunks, Gold Finch, and Tow wees are all around us. Lee slept in a hammock last night. Chippies used him as a freeway to get to the feeder in the morning. Today is shaping up to be a glorius day. Me and Lee are going to climb Carter Muntain later in the day when it cools off.

Thursday, June 17, 2004

Leaving for property tomorrow at 8PM, after work. Lee will join us on Saturday. We will work some more on the new Outhouse and relax away from the craziness of the city.

Saturday, June 05, 2004

We are preparing for the next trip. Leaving @ 8 PM Friday June 18th. We are bringing over new "footings" for the outhouse. The ones we chose to use were Re-dick-u-less! We will be able to nail the posts in place with the replacement blocks. The crummy blocks will then be used to prop up the shed over the trailor. Our freind Lee Jack will be joining us this time. It will be the Summer Solstice.......longest days of the year! He-yaaaaaaaaah!

Sunday evening. Roads are now clear of trees. I took 1/2 the wood as a payment for my good deed. Wind is kicking up. Ate a very good slow cooked Fritata. Eating well. No more Pork Chops. We are now in a position to finish the new outhouse. The foundation has been laid. Leaving for home tomorrow AM. I miss my Cats.
The birds are in a constant state of celebration! Chippers are running everywhere. The world is really quite good. Man is the problem! Humans are parasitic fungi!!! Long live the Earth Goddess!!
Awoke at 8AM to sunny beautiful skies. Overnight it diped into the 40's. Stars were incredible! Drove into Tonasket for coffee & a latte. Bill has discovered that the chainsaw requires gas to get it to operate! He is currently removing a fallen tree from Eldreds road. We will use the firewood. Skies are partly cloudy with temp in the 60's.

Saturday, May 08, 2004

It is so nice to be able t tie into the Internet while in the woods. Using a lap top and a cell phone, we are able to communicate with the outside world. If a trivia question comes up around the camp fire we just look it up on the Internet. It is now 6:39 PM. The rain has stoped. I slept for 3 hours after we arrived. Had a strange dream about my old dog Yoko Ono. She did not recognize me. Just ate some smoked pepper Salmon from Safeway. Very good. Temp is 55 degrees and it is partly cloudy.
This trip is to hopefully finish the new outhouse. In a week we will head to Tahoe to meet Don. Large predator of some type tore up our feeder. We think it was a Chupracabra!! Or maybe a Porkypine or Cougar or Bear. Thunder was great and so was the much much needed rain showers. Bills truck ran very well. Gas is around $2.35 per gallon these days.
Arrived at property at 1PM to gathering clouds and thunder! Had scattered showers with thunder during the afternoon. All is well up here. Temp was 65 and cooled to 50's during the rain. Bill's in love finally! Kiely is the one that has snatched his heart.

Saturday, April 03, 2004

Awoke 6 am. Went to Tonasket for B-fast. Then hit the Latte stand. Decided to dig a hole for the new outhouse today. Next trip we will build a structure to surround the hole.
I (Ron) am on a new diet and am losing weight once again. I hope to make it a lifestyle change that will stay with me for the rest of my life!It is quite beautiful up here in the shadow of Carter Mountain! We saw a group of Turkeys with a large Tom leading them! Also saw many dear!
Arrived at Property 1PM April 2nd 2004 to beautiful sunny skies and temp near 60 degrees. All is as we left it last October! Had great fire and then watched South Parks version of Lord Of The Rings/Porno movie mix up. Great show!! Slept well except for wasps that awakened during the night.
